THE CHARTER ENTRIED INTO FORCE ON 24 OCTOBER 1945 AFTER BEING RATIFIED BY FIVE PERMANENT MEMBERS OF THE SECURITY COUNCIL: UNITED STATES, FRANCE, UNITED KINGDOM, REPUBLIC OF CHINA TODAY PEOPLE REPUBLIC OF CHINA AND UNION OF SOVIET SOCIALIST REPUBLICS TODAY RUSSIAN FEDERATION. THE CHARTER ESTABLISHES OBLIGATIONS DERIVING FROM IT, ARE PLACE ABOVE OBLIGATIONS OF OTHER TREATIES. THE MAJORITY OF COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD HAVE RATIFIED THE CHARTER.
