VETERANS DAY OR ARMISTICE DAY IS A FEDERAL HOLIDAY IN UNITED STATES OBSERVED ANNUALLY IN NOVEMBER 11 HONORING MILITARY VETERANS, PEOPLE WHO HAVE SERVED IN THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES AND WERE DISCHARGED UNDER CONDITIONS OTHER THAN DISHONORABLE. IT IS COINCIDES WITH OTHER HOLIDAYS INCLUDING ARMISTICE DAY AND REMEMBRANCE DAY WICH ARE CELEBRATED IN OTHER COUNTRIES MARKING ANNIVERSARY OF THE END OF WORLD WAR I.  THE MAJOR HOSTILITIES OF WORLD WAR I WERE FORMALLY ENDED AT THE 11TH HOUR OF THE 11TH DAY OF 11TH MONTH OF 1918, WHEN THE ARMISTICE WITH GERMANY WENT INTO EFFECT. THE MAJOR UNITED STATES ORGANIZATIONS, THE ARMISTICE DAY WAS RENAMED VETERANS DAY IN 1954.
VETERANS DAY IS DIFFERENT FROM MEMORIAL DAY AN UNITED STATES PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN MAY MONTH. THE VETERANS DAY CELEBRATES THE SERVICE OF ALL U. S. MILITARY VETERANS. THE MEMORIAL DAY HONORS THOSE WHO HAVE DIED IN MILITARY SERVICE. THERE IS ANOTHER MILITARY HOLIDAY, ARMED FORCES DAY, A MINOR  U. S.  REMEMBRANCE THAN ALSO OCCURS IN MAY MONTH, HONORING TO CURRENT SERVERS OF UNITED STATES MILITARY.
U. S. WORLD WAR I VETERAN JOSEPH AMBROSE WITH 86 YEARS AT THE DEDICATION DAY PARADE FOR VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL IN 1982.
U. S. WORLD WAR I VETERAN JOSEPH AMBROSE 1896 - 1988 ATTENDS DEDICATION PARADE FOR THE VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL HOLDING THE FLAG COVERED THE CASKET OF HIS SON, CLEMENT WHO WAS KILLED IN THE KOREAN WAR.
THE CELEBRATIONS IN THE VETERANS DAY IS THE VETERANS DAY PARADE ON 11 NOVEMBER.
ON NOVEMBER 11 1919 UNITED STATES PRESIDENT THOMAS WOODROW WILSON SENT MESSAGE TO HIS COUNTRYMEN ON THE FIRST ARMISTICE DAY, EXPRESSING HIS FEELS AND THE DAY MEANT TO AMERICANS.
